Salesforce website visitor tracking
Your Salesforce org knows every account your team works, but not which of them are on your website this week. VisitorDetector identifies the companies visiting your site from business networks and brings that activity into Salesforce as account updates and tasks, so reps act on buying interest inside the system they already use.
Accounts and tasks in Salesforce
The Salesforce integration connects company level visit data to your account records.
Tasks fit the way most Salesforce teams already work. A rep opens the task list in the morning and sees that an account in their territory read pricing and a case study yesterday, with a link to the full visit history.
- Accounts: identified companies are matched to existing accounts by website domain and updated with profile and intent fields
- Tasks: when a company meets your rules, a task is created on the account for its owner, listing the pages viewed and the interest score
- New accounts: you choose whether companies with no matching account are created as new accounts or left in VisitorDetector
Matched by domain, existing accounts first
VisitorDetector looks up each identified company by its website domain before writing anything. When an account with that domain exists, the integration updates it and attaches the task there. Owners, record types and opportunity links stay as your team set them. Companies you exclude in VisitorDetector, such as existing customers and competitors, are skipped. No leads or contacts are created, because identification is company level only.
What lands on the account
| VisitorDetector field | Salesforce account field |
|---|---|
| company.domain | Website |
| company.name | Account Name |
| company.industry | Industry |
| company.employee_range | VisitorDetector employee range |
| company.country | Billing Country |
| score | VisitorDetector interest score |
| last_seen | VisitorDetector last seen |
On Scale and Enterprise, custom field mapping lets you send these values to the fields your reports and assignment rules already use.
Ways teams use website activity in Salesforce
For a faster signal than a task list, combine Salesforce with website visitor alerts in email or Slack. Learn how the number is built on the website visitor lead scoring page.
- List views of target accounts sorted by VisitorDetector last seen
- Reports comparing interest scores across a territory or a named account list
- Tasks for account owners when the score crosses a threshold you set
- A weekly account review that starts from accounts with activity on pricing or comparison pages
Company level data in your CRM
The Salesforce integration only ever writes company level information. VisitorDetector does not identify named people, does not collect emails and does not build personal profiles, so nothing it sends creates a lead or a contact. Visits from home networks, mobile carriers and known VPN ranges stay anonymous and never reach Salesforce. Your data retention setting in VisitorDetector, 13 months by default, controls how long visit history is kept on our side. Read more on the privacy-first page.
Self-service setup on Growth and up
Connect Salesforce from the integrations settings in your account by signing in with a Salesforce user that can edit accounts and create tasks. Choose which companies to sync and when tasks are created, then save. The integration is included on Growth ($199 per month, or $99 per month billed yearly), Scale and Enterprise. Scale adds custom field mapping and API access, Enterprise adds SSO (SAML) and SCIM. See all integrations or the pricing page.
